BAYKO Adverts in 'The Children's Newspaper'

Interestingly 'The Children's Newspaper' was one of those real rarities for children, a publication that their parents heartily approved of, but perhaps not a recipe for a winner with many children!

My parents actually went so far as to buy it for me - unsolicited…

…I'm afraid, however, it wasn't really a great success!

BAYKO was advertised widely in various parts of the UK press in the 1950s…

…and 'The Children's Newspaper' was one of them, at least in the run-up to Christmas.

This was the first advert for BAYKO in 'The Children's Newspaper' which was followed up by three adverts a year for the next three years - all in the planning phase of the run up to Christmas - with all but one being in November.

I'm afraid I can't offer any explanation as to why Plimpton decided to skip one issue of 'The Children's Newspaper' before they issued the third 1957 advert.

The timing of the advertisements is interesting in that the first date was delayed by a week each year.

As far as I can tell that is the full range of BAYKO adverts in 'The Children's Newspaper'.
