BAYKO in 'Toy Trader', January, 1960
The MECCANO Takeover Announcement

Short and sweet just about sums up this somewhat belated announcement of the takeover of BAYKO by MECCANO some four months earlier. The same announcement had appeared a month earlier in 'British Toys' and 'Games and Toys'
'Toy Trader' takeover announcement, January, 1960
The text of the announcement is as follows : -
Meccano Take-Over
MECCANO of Liverpool has acquired the capital of the Plimpton Engineering Company, manufacturers of the Bayko toy constructional sets.
The Meccano directors state that they intend to redesign this product although the basic principals will be fully retained. Further details will be announced at the Meccano Trade Exhibition in February.
Thus was an era ended! It's interesting to see that the planned innovation got top billing in the Directors' quote, given that it was this failure, by Plimpton, which had lead to their demise, in my opinion.
BAYKO was a regular advertiser in 'Toy Trader'
