BAYKO Miscellaneous Literature

This section shows a variety of pieces of BAYKO literature, from various points in the lifetime of the product, which, arguably, don't fit perfectly into other sections, so this page gives you another chance to find them.

This is definitely a pot pouri as the section doesn't lend itself to an obvious structure…

1946 to 1948 Instruction Sheet

I wasn't sure how to classify this flier and have also included it in the manuals section…

This sheet was included in all sets during the early post-war years and was a basic instruction sheet which introduced the range of BAYKO parts, that was available at the time, and how to use them all.

Unusually, this flier was stapled along the top - except obviously for page 8!

Note that the parts list does not include ½-Brick Rods.

Page 5 is of particular interest as this is the first mention of the [then] new Flat Roof…

…these sheets were issued through to 1948, long after the Flat Roof had changed from the diamond patter shown here to the more familiar tiled pattern.

Also, to me at least, the 3-Brick Pillar [Page 5, top left] looks more like a red one than the white ones which were actually produced.

Size - 178 mm x 122 mm = 7.0 x 4.8 inches.

Size - 250 mm x 189 mm = 8.9 x 7.45 inches.

1948 FLIER cum MANUAL

In all honesty I'm not quite sure how to categorise this document which is both price list and instruction manual…

…it was clearly intended to raise interest in the new parts [and the re-introduced Domes, Pinnacles and Turrets] and to enthuse children [and retailers?] with their model-making potential.

…the three pages, printed on each side, on a single, folded sheet.

Size - 248 mm x 184 mm = 9.8 x 7.25 inches.

Like all good companies, Plimpton worked at their customer relations, in the example I'm talking about now they wrote to a customer in Antwerp, Belgium and enclosed a copy of a [then] recently printed flier showing the parts requirements for two well known BAYKO models, the 'Country Club' and the 'Block of Flats'…
