This was the first of four versions of the Instruction Manual produced after BAYKO was taken over by MECCANO, and the product completely remodelled. Perhaps the most spectacular feature of the manual is the number of copies which were printed - 250,000!!! |
Being the first manual, with the introduction of set #14C and set #15 still two years in the future, this manual doesn't overlap any others. |
The manual is date coded for August, 1960 which certainly wasn't late when compared to the launch dates of the individual new sets |
It is a 24 page manual, printed throughout in red, green, yellow and black on white, gloss paper. |
The most noticeable difference between this manual and its successors is the image of the young boy and girl on the front cover [below], which was changed after this version. |
There is a second difference on page 16 [below], where advice to use a rubber band is added in subsequent versions to control the unsupported 2-Brick Rod over the open porch on the model. |
There is a third, fairly trivial difference, from the previous version. The MECCANO internal reference number, 23924, has been added to the back cover [below]. |
Size - 222mm x 190mm = 8.75 x 7.5 inches. |
