BAYKO Packaging

Not a mainstream BAYKO topic, but actually the evolution of BAYKO packaging across the middle third of the last century is interesting in that it reflects the general developments of UK marketing over that period.
Packaging can normally be split into 2 types : -
Pre-war wholesale packs
Wholesale : The packaging which manufactures used to supply retailers with their stocks of BAYKO spare parts…
Plimpton era Retail [or Accessory] Packs
Sometimes this packaging doubled as a postage box and was used to dispatch parts direct to collectors…
Retail : The display packaging used to attract the customers to buy more BAYKO parts…
Domestic : Unusually in the case of BAYKO there is a third category, intended to be used exclusively by BAYKO collectors - BAYKO Storage Box…
The separate pages describe the various approaches used at different times during the life of BAYKO by both Plimpton and MECCANO.
There are also a few anomalies of Plimpton Era Product in MECCANO packaging…
